Cloning Layers

Cloning a Layer

You can create a new Layer with the attributes of an existing Layer by cloning the Layer. Cloning a layer creates a new Layer but does not duplicate the data that generated the parent layer.

To clone a layer:

  • Open the Layers dropdown.
  • Select a Layer from a folder and click on the Options icon for the layer to display the layer tools.
  • Select the Clone Layer option from below the source Layer.

Clone Icon

  • The Clone Layer dialog is displayed similar to that shown below.

Clone Name

Choose the name for your cloned Layer and the folder you want it to appear in. A Layer name must be unique in Horizons. You can choose the Layer Group where you want to locate the cloned layer. By default the layer is stored in the Layer Group you selected initially. If the Layer Group contains more than one layer you can choose an alternative data source for the cloned layer that you are creating.

Clone Layer Data Source

When you have completed the dialog press OK. The styles editor for the layer is displayed. The styles of the layer you cloned are displayed.

  • You can change the styling of your cloned Layer and press the Create Layer button to save your cloned Layer, Working with Layer Styles.
