Searching

Find what you need in Horizons​

Use Horizon's powerful search feature to find what you're looking for. Enter a full or partial search term and Horizons will display a comprehensive list of results for it. Click a result to zoom into its location on the map. You can search for:

  • an address using a street name or postcode

  • a Section using its label

  • a location on the map using coordinates

  • an item in an active Layer, such as:

    • Marker Posts (by reference)
    • Junctions (e.g. 'M20 J2')
    • Overbridge (by reference)
    • Emergency Telephone (by reference)

  1. Click the top Search icon.

  2. Enter your search term(s) in the search box and then press the Enter key (or click the Search icon on the right). Partial matches are possible!

  3. The search results will appear below. You can hover over results to see more information about them. Click the result you want. The map will zoom into its location at Interaction level.

Search categories​

The following list describes the search terms that are accepted, the icons that identify the information type in the results list, and the behaviour of the map when you select a result.

Section​

Enter a Section label. A partial match from the start of a label is possible. For example, you can search 2200 to find 2200A21/234.

The map will zoom to the chosen Section. The Section will be selected and active.

Address​

Enter a house number, street name, and/or postcode. A partial match for any part of the address text or postcode is possible.

The map will zoom to the chosen location, whether it's in the Network or not. No Section will be selected.

Item​

Enter an asset reference number or text from any searchable data field on the item. A partial match for any part of reference text is possible.

The map will zoom to the chosen item. The associated Section will be selected and active.

Coordinates​

Enter coordinates for one of the following systems, separated by a comma:

  • Lat/Long coordinates for WGS 84 (SRID: 4326)

  • Northing/Easting coordinates for British National Grid (SRID: 27700)

The map will zoom to the chosen coordinates. No Section will be selected.

Clear the results​

Select the X icon in the search box to clear the current results.

Filter lists​

When using the Layers dropdown, or any of the features in the Analysis module, you can filter lists by typing in the top search box.
