Layer Folders
Organise Layers into categories
A typical Horizons project contains many Layers! To make things easier to navigate, Layers are organised into Layer Folders. A Layer must always belong to a folder. You can create any number of folders and move Layers between them as needed.
System Layer Folders
Some Layers are automatically created within system-generated folders. These are typically related to certain Horizons features and therefore often have restrictions around what you can change about them and their contents.
Additional Data
This folder contains additional data, such as:
-
Accidents (AADT and AADF)
-
Traffic Flow (validated STATS19)
Construction Data
This folder contains construction data that has been collected, e.g. surface age, material types.
Overlay / Custom
These two folders can contain bespoke spatial Layers, e.g. data about accidents, complaints, utility works, bus routes, HGV routes.
PMS Inventory
This folder contains Layers generated from PMS Inventory surveys, e.g. carriageway and footway surface types, widths and lengths.
PMS Sections and Nodes
This folder contains the breakdown and distribution of PMS Network information, e.g. section classes, footway hierarchies.
RCI-Run
This folder contains Road Condition Indicator (RCI) mapping of roads based on PMS SCANNER condition data. Several mapping styles are available:
-
Standard RAG mapping - Red/Amber/Green (RAG) condition data drawn against the XSPs of the Sections in your Network
-
Bubble RAG mapping - a red, amber, or green circle (bubble) is displayed around each subsection. The diameter of the bubble depends on the subsection's condition score. The larger the bubble, the worse the condition of the subsection. This is useful to get an idea of how bad a red subsection is.
-
GPS RAG mapping - each RCI subsection is aligned with the exact path of the video captured by the SCANNER vehicle. The benefits of this are apparent when using the imaging module.
Reference Points
This folder contains visual reference points, e.g. emergency telephones, overbridges, marker posts.
Survey Data
This folder contains survey data that has been collected, such as:
-
SCANNER (Surface Condition Assessment for the National Network of Roads) - standardised road surface assessment. Formerly known as Traffic Speed Road Assessment Condition Survey (TRACS).
-
SCRIM (Sideway-force Coefficient Routine Investigation Machine) - measures the wet skidding resistance of a road surface.
-
TSD (Traffic Speed Deflectometer) - measures the structural condition of asphalt road pavements at traffic speed
-
Deflectograph - a graph of deflection values of a road pavement when subject to a standard load.
Survey Summary
Each Layer shows the coverage of the various surveys held within the system.
Treatment Set
This folder contains Layers generated for various Treatment Sets that have been defined in the Analysis module.
Video
This folder shows the distribution of video across the selected Network and shows the type of video that is available.
Visual Surveys
This folder contains visual condition survey data that has been collected, such as standard PMS and bespoke surveys including:
-
DVI (Detailed Visual Inspection)
-
CVI (Coarse Visual Inspection)
-
FNS (Footway Network Survey)
Works Plans
Whenever you create and run a Works Plan in the Analysis module, a corresponding folder is generated for its output at the bottom of the Layers list. This lets visualise and review potential scenarios for each year.
Yotta Asset
This folder displays all of the Yotta Asset Layers that are available.
