Works Plans
Generate multiple maintenance scenarios
The main objective of CausewayOne Asset Strategy is to produce Works Plans! These bring together all of the Analysis features to generate cost-effective, prioritised programmes of works across multiple years.
A Works Plan takes the raw output of a Treatment Set and applies various constraints to the generated Treatment schemes, including finance (Budgets), location (Priorities) and required service levels (Strategies). It calculates asset deterioration for the year and looks ahead to see whether each potential Treatment scheme can be deferred safely or requires action. Asset conditions are updated accordingly. The process is repeated for a number of years, using each year's condition data to inform the next.
Each Works Plan can include multiple scenarios that take different approaches to asset maintenance:
-
Worst First - treat the assets in worst condition until the budget is consumed.
-
Asset Sweating - treat the assets that will benefit the most. By default, assets are only treated if a more severe Treatment will be required the following year. This allows assets to deteriorate gracefully, maximising their utility and lifespan.
-
Performance Strategies - treat assets in order to meet strategic targets while maximising the Benefit-Cost Ratio (BCR). Keep conditions, emissions and maintenance backlogs within defined thresholds.
Once a Works Plan has completed successfully, it will recommend the cheapest scenario that meets the most targets. These results can be visualised as Layers on the map. You can also access a set of Reports that provide detailed breakdowns of each scenario, ranging from Network level down to individual Sections.
